weirdness

I dont really know why i titled this post weirdness, but i think it was somthing to do with the weird pink sky and the whole randomness of this post... And yet here is another bridle from my little 'factory', its a tan and brown grackle bridle woth silver hardware, tongue buckles and at the moment-no reins!!
The workplace....i just realized how tidy it actually is! I must have taken this pic wen i was just about to sit down and attack some lace =]

And this pic was the spur for the title, look how weird it is???? PINK sky? how cool....next thing you know the grass will be blue and the seas green!

The bridle factory

Its been a long week in the bridle factory and production is increasing...... Black rolled leather double bridle with tongue buckles and white padded noseband. The cheekpeices and noseband all fasten over the horses poll on this bridle giving the head a clean and uncomplicated profile.
Another rolled leather bridle this time in brown and a jumper style. The pics are pretty rubbish and dont do any of the tack justice but hey ho thats cameras and all other aspects of modern technology for you! =]

close-up of the breastplate, evrything is hanging down at the moment because my saddle was taken up by another horse, it has elastic inserts and a detachable running martingale.

Close-up of the hunter breastplate and the laced reins.... (the saddle is work in progress)

And the hunter bridle, its real hard to see here but the bridle is brown and has tongue buckles and a raised brow and nosebands. The bit is actually and old pair of rio rondo d-rings that were just the right size to be a bit!

old pictures rediscovered

In a follow-up to yesterdays post i also uncovered some pics of my first pony, an arab x tb 13.2 hans mare named fleurette. These were taken at Stockland Lovell equestrian centre in Somerset at pony club camp 2008. cross country, its kinda hard to see here but that jump had a ditch under it.
this is one of my personal faves, i like the way the water is splashed out round fleurette's legs

showjumpingg...

that jump was really skinny....
Tomorrow i'll give you an update on my tack out put for the past few days, and i must say it has been rather productive!! =]

dressage!!

This picture was taken at the pony club area 14 dressage championships at romsey showground bout 2 months ago an i have just uncovered it kiking about in a drawer.

And yeeess before you all say Twilight {the horse} is tubby, take into consideration he is 20 and still has ALL his manhood, so that is my reason for the tub =]. It isnt the best pic of him in the world but i like it strangely, Twilight seems relaxed and is actually consentrating on his job (joys) and is not worrying about where his head is at like all these advanced horses you see being hyperflexed. Nono, not Twit, he will barely get his nose on the vertical as he was taught the old fashioned way-'as long as the horse carries himself and is not yanking the riders arms out in the foreboding battle for flexion, then he's good'- quote from my ex-trainer, she was rather 'traditional' shall we say? ;) until next time.......

pictures to follow the last post...

Lightweight breed show halter, i like this little halter, it was so simple to make but looks really neat when on!

Showjumping/eventing grackle bridle with a 5-point breastplate martingale + raised and padded nose and browbands (the saddle was a practice peice and not part of the set, i just needed something to attach the breastplate to)

Brown snaffle bridle with tan laced reins-i like the contrast of the tan and brown-this bridle is missing its flash strap at the moment becase i didnt get time to make it yesterday!

Polo set with standing martingale, elastic breastplate and pelham bridle [and yes i need to trim that curb chain!]

This is the rolled snaffle bridle desribed in the last post .

The 'show' report.....

Well i dont have a show report at all really! unfortunately i have been ill all bloomin weekend, not fair! I didnt get the cance to go to the competition as i was too ill, and after all the effort put in to learn my test and get the horse ready aswell, so i have been sat on the sofa wrapped up in a blanket fo the past 2 days. Yesterday i finally felt vaguely well enough to get outta bed and work on some tack that has been sat unfinished in a box for months!!
I have now got lots of newly finished bridles, and will upload some pics soon but for now heres a vague discription on what has been finished! -----> 1. Traditional sized rolled leather snaffle bridle in black with gold hardware, tongue buckles, laced reins and white padded noseband with a flash. 2. Black leather raised grackle bridle with a cast pelham bit complete with roundings, laced reins, stud hooks to bit and a 5-point breastplate/martingale combo. 3. Brown leather raised and padded snaffle bridle with tan laced reins and gold tongue buckles, i like this bridle, it was nice and simple to make! 4. last but not least, A brown leather polo bridle, complete with standing martingale, breastplate and tongue buckles.......im gonna add the pics real soooonn....

2008 work

Black double bridle with tongue buckles, raised brow and nosebands, thread laced reins, stud hooks to bit and cast rio weymouth bit with curb chain and lip strap! This being one of my older bridles, it was more of an experiment peice and now i look at it and can see that the cheekpeices on the weymouth are waaay too short!!

Piccies of my work!

Hi!! :)

Well the firt thing i guess i should say is hi! Im new to this blogging thing and thought it would be something else to do in my free time apart from riding!!
A little about me;
Im a 15 year old girl who has an obsession with riding and an addiction to model horse tackmaking! It all started wen i was 7 and i got my first breyer horse for a birthday present. I loved playing with it and longed for a set of tack for him so that my countless numbers of barbie dolls could ride him, and then one day my dad gave me some leftover vinyl peices [the sort used to cover kitchen chairs] some scissors and a pritt stick. I was overjoyed because the contents in my hands were just enough for me to make my first tack set for my lonely little breyer. I didn't know at the time, but what i had just made sparked off an obsession with making miniature tack!
Through the years as my collection of horses rapidly grew, so did the size of my tack box! Every horse had to have his own set of tack, hung up neatly on named saddle and bridle racks. Then about 3 years back, i discovered rio rondo!! I couldnt belive my eyes as i scoured through the vast pages of hardware.....i had no idea that tackmaking was such a big hobby!
I first purchased on of rio's kits, and after doing so my tackmaking skills took a giant leap forward! Since then i have uncovered many other places specializing in model horse tackmaking supplies, including the unicorn woman, sulser saddlery and many more!
I currently make various types of bridles [as i am still trying to master the art of decent pattern making and cannot make saddles all that well!!] and they are frequently for sale on ebay.
Im gonna try upload a few pics of my work [some old, and some new] for you to have a looky at!
